Here we are, the Buhajla family. There are 5 of us (the extra one is our oldest’s BFF, Noel, who is like a daughter to us), 7 if you count our two yellow labs. But, more about them some other time.

We made a big move from Arkansas to Texas in 2013 where we left behind the home we custom built in the country for a house in the middle of a subdivision…in the city. We know how the Duck Commander folks must feel now. Guess we won’t be shooting targets off the back deck anymore.

So, the new house is Texas big. 3,057 square feet of Texas big. And, it’s dated. As in gold chandeliers, white carpet, and honey oak cabinets dated. Yeah. Its real purdy. The truth is, though, that it has the bones of a beautiful home. It was custom built in 1986 and it is not cookie cutter. There are over 30 oak trees on our half acre cornet lot in the middle of town and it is gorgeous!

We will be renovating the house room by room from floor to ceiling and I hope you’ll share in this journey with us. (You’ll find all the juicy photos under the R & R section of the menu up top here.) It is a blessed mess. As we undertake this journey of making a diamond in the rough shine, we know our real treasures lay up in heaven. They are those of forgiveness, acceptance, and unconditional love. They come from our savior, Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 24:3-4 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
